Heartland Chirstian Schools Update - October 16
October 16, 2026
by Larry Gabel
A special thanks to Scott and Deena Bandy for organizing and facilitating our annual HCS weekend campout at Norton Lake. All who were able to attend were blessed!
This past Tuesday, our HCS junior high volleyball team competed with Cheylin. Our varsity battled hard but lost both games, and our junior varsity also lost on the scoreboard.
Pastor Kirby Benisch was our Chapel speaker on Wednesday. He led the students in looking up Bible verses and reading them out loud. Pastor Benisch directed the younger students to move into groups with their older Crusaders. He encouraged each group to share within their respective groups about several assigned topics. Towards the end of the discussion, he summarized this process by stating that “we are all created in God’s image”. He encouraged our students not to look down on any person but to be an encouragement to everyone with our words and actions. Thank you, Pastor Benisch, for sharing with our students and staff (pictured above).
Our fall HOPE meeting was held on Thursday. Jeremy Kersenbrock presented a picture of the finances of Heartland Christian School. He had a breakdown of the percentages that our tuition, fundraisers, and donations cover in relation to the total budget. Our tuition only covers approximately one third of the total budget. Mrs. Christy Sturdy shared information on possible tax credits that are scheduled to begin in January of 2027.
This coming Monday, Heartland Christian School will host CFE, and Cheylin in volleyball. Our junior high will play CFE and our high school will play Cheylin’s C Team. There will be a free will baked potato bar from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Come support the Crusaders.
Next Tuesday, 10-20-26, we will be conducting hearing checks in the library beginning at 8:30 am.
Enjoy the cooler temperatures!
