Last Friday, 10-23-26, Mr. Duane Unger treated his Earth Science class to look at many of the fossils at the Fick Museum in Oakley. After that they traveled south of Oakley to “Old Jerusalem” to observe how the flood and wind helped form these impressive structures. His class also got to observe some of the same types of structures several miles east at “Monument Rocks”. (Pictures are on the following pages).
Our Heartland Christian School volleyball team ended their season competing at the Kansas Approved State Volleyball Championships in Lawrence. Several teams that were expected to compete were unable to make it. Our team, pictured on the next page, placed 5th overall. A special thanks to our coaches: High school - Kennedy Booi, Becca Sowers, and Kirsten Gwinn; Junior high – Jennifer Carter. You all are very much appreciated.
Heartland Christian School’s junior high scholars bowl team competed at Rexford in their first meet of the season on Monday. Both seventh and eighth grade teams competed well but did not place in the top three.
Our first graders were scheduled to go to the Grass Roots Pumpkin Patch for a field trip on Tuesday, but it was postponed to next week to allow the ground to dry out. Mrs. Elling provided a field trip to the McCarty Dairy on Tuesday for her third and fourth graders.
Pastor Greg Woolf was our Chapel speaker on Wednesday. Several points that he made were as follows: 1) we, as Christians, were all purchased with the blood of Jesus on the cross, this is to be born again; 2) we are living under the law until we accept Jesus as our Savior, then we have freedom from the law; 3) we need to die to ourselves and live for Christ. Thank you, pastor Woolf for your powerful message. (Pastor Woolf is pictured above).
The 7th and 8th graders started their Renaissance chapter in World Studies. A discussion was led about how Michaelangelo took four years to paint the Sistine Chapel while laying on his back. To help our students get a better understanding of this concept, Mrs. Younger had her students tape a coloring page to the bottom of their desks and color it while laying on their backs.
The fire prevention trailer was stationed out front of HCS on Thursday morning for our primary students to help learn more about fires and how to prevent them from happening. Thanks to our local fire department for making this available to our students.
Our three seniors shared their individual speeches with the secondary students and staff who were able to attend. Pictures are on the last pages.
