The monthly meeting of the Solomon Valley 4-H Club was held on March 9th at 7:00 pm at the Colby 4-H building. The meeting was called to order by President Nash Ziegelmeier. Flag salute and 4-H pledge was led by Reid Crouse. Roll call was, “What are your spring break plans?” It was answered by 23 members and 2 leaders.
We had special guests from the American Legion, Tracy Galli, Ron Donley and BJ Wagoner. They did a demonstration on how to fold a flag and what the folds mean. Next, Brylie Harter gave us the treasurer’s report. Pete Ziegelemeier gave us the leaders report. He stated that Junior Producer Day is coming up as well as small animal weigh-in on April 18th. Sara Sloan also stated that our next meeting will be an exchange meeting with the Abilene Hustlers 4-H Club.
For committee reports, the t-shirt committee handed out our new club shirts. Tori Harter gave a recap of her Citizenship In Action trip to Topeka. The club had sponsored part of her trip and she felt very privileged to be able to attend. For new business our club voted to help pay for our club members attending Camp Lakeside.
For the program we had project talks by Kyndal Harter on her pig, Brylie Harter on her steer and Deegan Wolf on his pet lizard. Next, we recessed for recreation where Kyndal Harter led us in a fun game of Octopus Tag. The meeting was adjourned. We had snacks and drinks. Next meeting will be April 13th.
