The Colby Lady Eagles continued their strong start to the 2026 season in front of a home crowd on April 2, sweeping Russell in their home opener at Young Memorial Park. Already unbeaten entering the day, Colby showcased both offensive firepower and steady pitching to move to 6-0 on the season.

Game one opened with early adversity, as Russell capitalized on a Colby error to take a 2-0 lead in the first inning. The Lady Eagles quickly settled in, however, responding in the bottom of the second with a three-run frame sparked by timely situational hitting. Kenly Moss and Ellie McCarty delivered key hits, while productive outs from Madi Hull, Landrie McKee, and Emily Flanagin helped flip the scoreboard in Colby’s favor.

From there, Colby steadily pulled away. A four-run fourth inning broke the game open, highlighted by RBI swings from Myka Nolan, Ryler Carter, and Moss. Nolan’s two-RBI single and Carter’s extra-base hit were pivotal in extending the lead.

Nolan led the way in game one with two runs scored and two RBI, while Moss added two hits and an RBI. Carter contributed both at the plate and in the circle, finishing with two hits while also earning the win. After Landrie McKee started the game, Carter took over and delivered 5.2 strong innings, allowing just four hits and striking out six to shut down Russell’s offense.

Russell responded with a four-run third inning to briefly tie the game, but Colby answered immediately. Nolan and Cheney again came through in the clutch, combining for two more RBIs to reclaim the lead. From there, the Lady Eagles pulled away for good.
