Match Month Returns to Multiply Giving Across Thomas County

April 3, 2026

April has arrived in Thomas County, and with it comes one of the most impactful opportunities of the year for local giving. The Thomas County Community Foundation has officially kicked off Match Month, a focused campaign designed to multiply community generosity and expand the reach of local philanthropy.

For residents, businesses, and organizations across the county, Match Month represents more than just a fundraiser. It is a chance to directly strengthen the community through a unique partnership that stretches every dollar donated.

At the heart of the effort is a powerful matching structure supported by the Dane G. Hansen Foundation and the Patterson Family Foundation. Throughout the month of April, eligible contributions to the foundation are amplified—turning local donations into significantly larger investments back into Thomas County.

“This is really the time where the community can come together and make the biggest impact,” said Foundation Director Jada Tubbs during a recent interview.

The Thomas County Community Foundation serves as a central hub for charitable giving in the region, managing a wide range of funds that support scholarships, community projects, nonprofit organizations, and long-term endowments. From education initiatives to healthcare access and economic development, the foundation plays a key role in shaping the future of the county.

That mission aligns closely with the priorities of its matching partners. Both Hansen and Patterson focus on strengthening rural communities through four core areas: economic opportunity, education, healthcare, and community engagement. Their shared vision emphasizes building resilient local economies, supporting high-quality education systems, improving access to healthcare, and fostering strong civic involvement.

This year’s campaign includes an ambitious goal of raising $200,000 from the community. If achieved, those contributions will unlock an additional $200,000 in matching funds—effectively doubling the impact and creating a total of $400,000 in community investment.

“It’s a massive opportunity for us,” Tubbs explained. “If we raise $200,000, we gain another $200,000. That’s a huge return for Thomas County.”

One way to help out is to purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to win an exclusive dinner overlooking on a fantastic patio overlooking Villa High. You and your guest will be treated to an evening of great food, drinks, and entertainment. Your ticket can be purchased for $20 through one of the foundations trustees, by visiting the foundation in their office, or webpage at https://thomasccf.com.

Unlike traditional fundraising efforts, Match Month is designed to be flexible and inclusive. Donations can come in many forms, including direct gifts, memorial contributions, or funds established for specific causes. As long as the funds are not donor-advised, they qualify for the match—allowing a broad range of participation from across the community.

The impact of those contributions extends far beyond April. A portion of the matched funds is directed into the foundation’s grant endowment, which provides ongoing support for local organizations year after year. Other donations go directly into designated funds, ensuring that donor intent continues to shape community improvements well into the future.

Last year, the community exceeded expectations by raising approximately $133,000—surpassing the initial goal of $100,000. That success demonstrated both the generosity of local residents and the growing momentum behind the foundation’s work.

To help drive engagement, the foundation has planned several events throughout the month, including a raffle fundraiser featuring a deck party experience, and the annual golf tournament at the end of the month. These events provide opportunities for residents to connect, learn more about the foundation, and contribute in ways that feel accessible and meaningful.

Still, Tubbs emphasized that participation does not have to be complicated or large-scale.

“There are people who might not attend events but will still give $50 or $100 because they believe in what this does for the community,” she said.

That belief is what continues to drive Match Month forward each year. Whether supporting scholarships for local students, funding improvements to community spaces, or helping nonprofits expand their services, every contribution plays a role in building a stronger Thomas County.

The foundation will also be hosting their annual golf tournament on May 1st, while not in the month of April all donations/gifts will count toward the match incentive.
