Wildfire Relief for Southwest Kansas

April 7, 2026

Contact: Helen Giefer

Wildfires recently wreaked havoc in several southwest Kansas counties. There are multiple ways to help support the agricultural community as they start the long rebuilding process and seek to feed their cattle following loss of feed sources and before the grass rebounds - which can be a long process following an intense fire such as this. See some options below on how you can help!

Hay, Feed, and Fencing Drop-off Points

Anyone can drop off feed and fencing supplies to the locations below. In particular, ranchers in Clark County are in dire need of hay. At this time, the Extension office is working on arranging hay loads to head down that way. The Thomas County Abilene Hustlers 4-H Club has generously approved to provide $150 to cover some of the fuel cost to someone willing to make the trip. Contact us at the Thomas County Extension Office if you can supply and/or transport hay. Even if you just have a bale or two to spare, we will be happy to work with you!
