Lady Bulldogs Claim League Runner-Up

The Golden Plains Lady Bulldogs claimed the runner-up spot in the WKLL tournament in Oakley on May 14. The girls had 4 league championships to lead them to this spot.
Brenlynn Rath claimed three league championships including first place in Long Jump with a new school and league record of 18’ 0.75”. She also set a new school and league record of 39’ 2.75” in triple jump for the championship, and set a PR of 30’ 9.75” for the championship in Shot Put. A fourth league championship for the Bulldogs was won by Adilyn Meier who finished the 3200m run in 15:18.88.
Searee Bruggeman claimed the runner-up spot in the 3200m run with a time of 15:59.84. Third place was awarded to Rath in the 100m dash with a PR of 13.44, to Molly Ritter with a high jump of 4’ 6”, and to the 4 x 800m relay team of Bruggeman, Kailee Wessel, Meier, and Alicia Vargas with a 12:24.82 finish.
The 4 x 100m relay team of Katie Carter, K. Wessel, Lakin Wark, and Ritter finished fourth with a time of 1:00.21. Ellie Romero placed fourth in the 3200m with a run of 18:42.48.
Fifth place points were awarded to Meier in the 800m (2:52.83), Bruggeman-1600m (7:22.45), and Wark-High Jump (4’ 4”). Jade Dible placed sixth in High Jump at 4’ 4” and Bruggeman placed sixth in Triple Jump with a PR of 30’ 2.25”. Also placing sixth was Ritter in the 100m (15.01), Meier-400m (1:11.84), and Romero-1600m (8:23.15).
Several girls set PR’s at league just missing out on points including Jade Dible-100m 15.10, 200m 32.39, Javelin 70’ 3”, Lakin Wark-100m 15.47, 200m 33.35, Alicia Vargas 400m 1:12.17, Katie Carter-100m 15.16, Discus 73’ 8”, Javelin 66’ 3”, Addy Wessel –Shot Put 6’ 4.25”, Ellie Romero-Triple Jump 27’ 4”.
Additional results include: 100m-Kailee Wessel 15.48, Addy Wessel 17.58, 200m—Ritter 31.91, Vargas 33.95, K. Wessel 34.18, 800m-Vargas 3:19.06, Brielle Karnes 3:41.98, Romero 3:48.09, Discus-A. Wessel 62’ 5”, Javelin 60’ 11”.
Several of the girls finished their season at league while others will compete at the Regional meet in Tribune on May 21 in hopes of qualifying for the state meet in Wichita.
