Bulldogs Place Second at League Meet

The Golden Plains High School boys track team scored 80 points at the WKLL meet in Oakley on May 14 to claim the runner-up spot. “We had a great end to our regular season with our boys and girls track teams earning league runner up today,” said Coach Travis Smith.
The Dogs had three league championships including Dylan Wark in both the 800m running a 2:05.67 and the 1600m with a PR of 4:57.67. Zeke Weiner was the league champion in the 3200m run finishing in 11:21.97.
Second place points were awarded to the 4 x 400m relay team of Wark, Parker Vahling, Tanner Black, and Diego Perez with a season best run of 3:53.55. The 4 x 800m relay team of Kelby Buehler, Cristian Garcia, Adam Ritter, and Weiner also placed second with a 10:15.51 finish. Garcia placed second in Triple Jump with a 37’ 10.75” jump.
Parker Vahling placed third in the 400m dash with a PR time of 55.97 and Wark placed third in the 3200m finishing in 12:42.95. Finishing fourth was Zeke Weiner in the 1600m at 5:04.61 and the 4 x 100m relay team of Ritter, Perez, Vahling, and Black running a 48.74.
Vahling also set a PR of 25.12 in the 200m for fifth place and Black placed fifth in the 300m hurdles at 53.32. Kasch Buehler finished out the scoring with a 56.20 sixth place run in the 300m hurdles along with Kelby Buehler placing sixth in discus with a 97’ 4” throw.
Kelby Buehler set a PR in Shot Put of 33’ 0”. Also setting a PR was Black with a 12.36 run in the 100m and Kasch Buehler with a 13.53 100m dash.
Results from additional events included: 100m—Nash Ziegelmeier 15.35, 200m—Perez 26.27, 400m—Ritter 1:01.90, Garcia 1:04.55, Kasch Buehler 1:08.96, Javier Romero 1:24.97, 800m—Weiner 2:33.41, Ritter 2:52.74, Long Jump—Garcia 16’ 1”, Discus—Romero 95’ 8”, Ziegelmeier 72’ 4”, Javelin—Kelby Buehler 95’ 1”, Romero 73’ 6”, Ziegelmeier 67’ 5”,Shot Put—Perez 34’ 10.5”, Romero 28’ 11”, Ziegelmeier 28’ 0.5”.
Several of the team members finished their season at league while others will compete at the Regional meet in Tribune on May 21 for a chance at qualifying for state.
