Lady Bulldogs Win Three at Palco

The Golden Plains Lady Bulldogs advanced to 6-0 on the season with three wins in Palco on September 1. The posted wins over Logan, Palco, and Ness City.
The first game was against the Logan Lady Trojans. The Bulldogs opened with a quick first set win 25-7. The Trojans came back in the second set to claim a 23-25 victory over the Dogs. The Bulldogs held on in the third set to win 25-16.
Lakin Wark had 7 ACE serves, Brenlynn Rath 4, Kadalen Unrein 4, Ellie Romero 1, an Makynslee Vargas 1. Wark also led the team with 6 Kills, Rath 5, Unrein 5, Katie Carter 3, Jade Dible 3, and Estella Vargas 1. Wark had 11 assists, Unrein 4, Carter 1, E. Vargas 1, and Dible 1. Digs were Wark 7, Carter 7, Unrein 4, E. Vargas 1, and Dible 1.
The second match of the night was against the Palco Roosters. The Bulldogs quickly took down the Roosters 25-11 in the first set. The Roosters came back in the second set but the Dogs claimed the win 25-17. ACE serves were delivered by Wark 7, Rath, M. Vargas, Unrein, Romero and Molly Ritter with 1 each. Kills were made by Carter 5, Rath 3, E. Vargas 2, Dible 2, and Kaylee Kier 1. Dible had 1 block and Digs came from Romero 7, Rath 5, Wark 4, Ritter 2, E. Vargas 1, and M. Vargas 1.
The final match of the day was against the Ness City Eagles. The Dogs dropped the first match 19-25. Dogs came back strong and defeated them 25-14 in the second set and 25-11 in the third to go 3-0 on the day. ACE serves included Rath 3, M. Vargas 2, Wark 1, Carter 1, and E. Vargas 1. Kills were delivered by Rath 12, Unrein 6, Wark 4, Dible 2, E. Vargas 1, and M. Vargas 1. Assists came from Wark 15, Unrein 3, Carter 2, E. Vargas 2, Dible 1, and Kier 1. Digs included Romero 17, Rath 15, Carter 10, Wark 6, and Unrein 3.
“We had a lot of fun and good communication,” said Jade Dible. “It feels good to start the season undefeated. We should continue to play strong as long as we keep our heads up and our communication going.” The girls will travel to Tribune on September 8 to play Greeley County and Brewster.
Lady Bulldogs Open Season with 3 Wins

The Golden Plains Lady Bulldogs Volleyball team opened their volleyball season with a 3-0 record at a Quad in Ransom on August 28, winning games over Moscow, Weskan, and Western Plains.
The Bulldogs' first game was against Moscow, where they came in strong and won the first set 25-12. In the second set, they kept that energy and defeated the Wildcats 25-10. “I’m really proud of how hard we worked, although I want to see us come together as a team,” said senior Estella Vargas. The Dogs finished the match with 7 ACE serves, 17 kills, 23 digs, and 1 block.
The Dogs faced the Weskan Lady Coyotes for their second match of the night. They continued their victorious play, beating Weskan 25-18 in the first set. The Lady Dogs just couldn't hold their own in the second set and fell to Weskan 21-25, sending them into a 3rd set. The Dogs fought hard to the end, beating Weskan 25-21 for the match win. The Bulldogs had 12 ACE serves, 25 kills, and 50 digs against the Coyotes. “I think that in these games we were able to see our ups and downs and be able to push through to the end,” added freshman Makynslee Vargas.
For their final game, the Lady Bulldogs went against Western Plains. The Dogs beat the Bobcats 25-19 in the first set. The second set was a lot tougher than the first, but the Bulldogs fought to the end, beating the Bobcats 25-23. The Dogs had 6 ACE serves, 18 Kills, and 40 digs against Western Plains. The Dogs will continue their season on September 1 in Palco, in a quad with Palco, Logan, and Ness City.
