Western Plains Arts Association announces ’26-‘27 season programs

Western Plains Arts Association will open their season with a Jazz Trio at the Gateway in Oberlin on September 13th at 3:00 PM.

Four generations of Northwest Kansas residents have attended WPAA programs during our years. Members come from varied walks and occupations but have one thing in common, our love for live music and entertainment.

While costs are going up everywhere, WPAA has been careful to offer performing arts enthusiasts great value. Season ticket holders receive the best entertainment package anywhere. With 16 programs on the schedule, our prices are the same as last few years. $60 adult and $15 student. Family season tickets are $130. While adult, student and family season tickets may be purchased anytime from a board member, the best value is prior to or at the season opener. Individual show gate prices are also affordable.

Most Sunday performances begin at 3 p.m. Central Time, with occasional evening performances.

2026–2027 season schedule

September 13 Sunday 3 p.m. – Jazz Trio performers, Art Lande, Bill McCrossen and Marguerite Juenemann will do a variety of selections in Oberlin.

September 27, Sunday 3 p.m. – Garth LIVE! Is a stunning tribute to the music of Garth Brooks and some of the greatest music produced in the 90’s country era presented in Colby.

October 11, Sunday 3 p.m - Buckets N Boards, a Branson and Disney Cruise Line show, features amazing percussion, tap dancing, beat boxing, hilarious songs and more in Oakley.

October 19-21 – Wichita Children’s Theatre will present “Three Billy Goats Gruff” or “Tom Sawyer”, free to elementary students in seven area schools: Quinter, Oakley, Colby, Winona, Atwood, St. Francis and Goodland.

October 25, Sunday, 3 p.m. - The popular duo, Acoustic Eidolon, will share their signature acoustic music of Celtic, folk and classic genres in Hoxie.

November 1, Sunday 3 p.m.(2 p.m. mountain) – Ron Wilson, who calls himself the poet lariat, will provide an all-original cowboy poetry program in Goodland.

Tuesday November 10,- Phillip Daniel, film/dance composer and touring artist from Lincoln, NE, will do workshops during the day and a public performance (6:30 p.m. mountain time)in the school auditorium that evening at Sharon Springs.

November 15, 3 p.m.- Forever Simon and Garfunkel celebrates the best selling duo in rock’n’roll history with some of the greatest American songs ever written. This program will be held in Colby.

December 6, Sunday 3 p.m. – The FOUR FRESHMEN will present an exciting holiday show for the Christmas season in Oakley.

January 31 Sunday 3 p.m. – From the Branson area, the FARNUM FAMILY presents bluegrass, gospel, cowboy and western music with their string band at Hoxie.

February 14, Sunday 3 p.m. –Ventriloquist, magician, musician and comedian TODD OLIVER puts on a family-friendly show with his talking dog. Come to St. Francis to see.

February 28, Sunday 3 p.m. – BLUE WATER HIGHWAY is a Texas-based America folk/rock band known for their soulful harmony in blues, folk and country to classic rock and roll music. Program held in Colby.

March 14, Sunday 3 p.m.- IT TAKES TWO, A LEGENDARY DUO REVUE, is a musical journey celebrating iconic duos that have shaped history. Come to Oakley.

April 4 Sunday 3:00 p.m. – The Haymakers perform a wide variety of American roots music that includes folk, bluegrass, country, western swing, all uniquely influenced by our experience of be Kansans at Quinter.

April 18 Sunday 3 p.m. – YOU RAISE ME UP, duo Erin Shields & David Shenton, will present their unique show of songs of love, h ope and inspiration in Colby.

May 2, Sunday 3 p.m.- Heidi & Kevin Chang will do a program of bluegrass, gospel and classical music in Atwood.
