The Golden Plains Middle School volleyball team hosted a triangular match against the Decatur Community Red Devils and the Rawlins County Buffaloes. The A-team lost in two sets to Decatur Community and the Atwood Buffaloes. The B-team also lost to Decatur Community and the Atwood Buffaloes in two sets.
The A-team just didn’t have enough confidence starting their match against Atwood, losing the first set 5-25. They picked up the pace a bit but still fell behind Atwood, losing the second set 9-25.
“I think it went pretty well,” said Maisy Meier. “We’ve gotten more used to the routine; we just needed to move and pass better.”
The GP girls then went and fought hard against Decatur Community but still fell to them at the end of the first set, 19-25. In the second set, the girls fought their hardest but lost 14-25 in the end. “I think we tried a lot harder than in all of our other games,” said Emma Zeisler. “We just need to be more confident to get the ball to set it up.”
The B-team girls started their match against Rawlins not in the right headspace, losing to the Buffaloes 3-25. In the second set, they found some of their rhythm and put up a couple more points but still lost 10-25. The Bulldogs then went against Decatur. They found their confidence but still fell to the Red Devils 16-25 in the first set. In the second set, they kept right with the Red Devils throughout the match but slowly lost their rhythm towards the end, losing 19-25.
“I think we did well on having rallies,” said Irlanda Mar. “We just need more communication. “The first game didn't go how we wanted it,” added Kimberlyn Juenemann. “I feel like we got our confidence, and the second game went better. I think we just need to talk more and be more confident about getting the ball.”
The girls will go to Bird City to play Cheylin on September 24.
