The Colby High School Student Council turned up the energy and community spirit this week, hosting a live auction of Eagle football jerseys that drew laughter, competitive bidding, and strong support from the crowd.

The annual fundraiser, held in the school commons, offered fans the chance to take home the game-worn jerseys of their favorite players. Each bid contributed to the Student Council’s efforts to fund activities, events, and school improvement projects throughout the year.

The auctioneer’s quick cadence and humor kept the evening lively. Early bids began modestly at $20, but prices quickly escalated as fans competed for the most coveted numbers. Senior Brady Wiedeman’s jersey, No. 7, ignited an intense back-and-forth before finally selling for $75.

Another highlight came when jersey No. 21 Kade Youngman hit the triple digits—the first of the night. After a spirited round of bidding that climbed in five- and ten-dollar increments, the fan-favorite top sold for $100, earning cheers from the crowd.

The excitement carried over to the auction of No. 54, Bryton Dixon’s jersey. With bids jumping from $20 all the way into triple digits, the contest escalated until the hammer fell at $150, making it one of the top sellers of the night.

Closing out the evening, senior Zach Kistler’s No. 70 brought the event full circle with a memorable finish. The jersey fittingly sold for $70, drawing a round of applause as the crowd appreciated the symmetry of “70 for 70.”

Student Council members said the proceeds will go directly into supporting school functions, student-led projects, and activities that help build pride and engagement at Colby High.

DESCRIPTION

CHS Physical Science teacher and StuCo leader Gentry Kanak said, “We are really appreciative of how the community came together to support our Student body during the Jersey Auction. It is part of a long-running tradition with Homecoming week along with our other main fundraiser, Window Painting. The funds raised are all used by StuCo- Student Council- to provide dances and activities for the CHS student body throughout the school year.”

The jersey auction has become a cherished tradition at CHS, blending the competitive energy of athletics with the strong community support that surrounds the Eagles. By the end of the night, both the Student Council and Eagle fans went home winners.
