Solomon Valley January 4H Minutes

The Solomon Valley 4H Club met on January 12th at 7pm at the Thomas County 4H building. This was our Junior Officer meeting lead by all the Junior officers. Reid Crouse led the club in the Flag Salute and the 4-H Pledge. Roll call was “Snow Skiing or Snow Sledding,” answered by 22 members and 3 leaders. The December minutes were read and approved.

Officer reports, committee reports and leaders report was given. There was no 4-H Council meeting in December to report on. Leaders noted that pizza orders are due to club leaders tonight. They shared information about upcoming horse panorama on Feb 21st, Junior beef producer day in March and Sheep producer day in April. Leader Pete Ziegelmeier shared BB shooting sports practice has already started and that Beef weigh-ins are Feb 14th. Pete reported they are having an extra training available for all club Secretary and Treasurers and would like parents to attend as well. Leader Sara Sloan shared that Z-books is an option to help with 4H record books and shared the link. The Seal Committee reported the club is on track to receive a purple seal, with 28% of the requirements already completed.

In old business, the Amusement Association donation remained tabled.

In new business, members voted to not have a parent meeting in February; have an exchange meeting with Abilene Hustlers in April; donate to the State 4H Foundation; and to helpcover expenses for members going to State or National Conferences.

Song was led by Emma Haag, and the club sang Home on the Range. Blaine Wagoner gave a project talk on BB gun. Bear Stramel gave a project talk showing how to make a Tickled Pink Cotton Candy Drink. Cort Stramel gave a project talk on How to Sheer a Lamb. Brody Stramel gave a demonstration on jumpstarting a vehicle. Anthony Haag led recreation with the game Red Roover, Red Roover.

Announcements included a woodworking workshop at Advanced Architectural Woodwork north of Levant on Feb 14, 21, & 28th, from 2-4pm, for kids aged12-18. Pizza making and delivery will be Jan 31st at 9am at the 4 H building. Beef weigh-in is February 14th.

Our next meeting is February 9, 2026 @ 7pm.
