February 6, 2026
Morgan Hills marks a milestone moment at the GWAC League Championship, surpassing 100 career victories during her dominant run to the 135-pound conference title. The senior’s performance also earned her GWAC Female Wrestler of the Year honors, capping a historic day for the Lady Eagles standout.

The Colby High School Lady Eagle wrestling team delivered a commanding performance on February 6 in Ulysses, capturing the Greater Western Activities Conference league championship behind depth across the lineup and several individual champions. Colby finished the day atop the team standings with 169 points, comfortably ahead of Ulysses, which placed second with 125, and Scott City in third with 119, underscoring just how complete the Lady Eagles’ effort was from top to bottom.

The tournament belonged to Colby standout Morgan Hills, who turned in a dominant run at 135 pounds. Hills went a perfect 4-0 on the day, scoring 21.5 team points while pinning or overwhelming every opponent she faced. Her path to the title included quick falls over Cayley Metcalf of Ulysses and Eloise Hildebrand of Goodland, followed by a technical fall against Brodi Speer of Scott City, and a decisive fall in the championship match against McKenzie Simon of Holcomb.

Along the way, Hills showcased her pace and control, repeatedly stringing together takedowns early in matches to build separation before closing things out. Her championship performance also carried extra significance, as Hills surpassed the 100 career win mark during the tournament and was later named the GWAC Female Wrestler of the Year, a fitting recognition for one of the conference’s most consistent competitors this season.

Colby’s success extended well beyond Hills. Adrian Salcido claimed a conference title at 100 pounds, placing first after earning a medical forfeit in round two and following it up with a decisive win over Ulysses’ Yosselin Delgado in the later rounds. Salcido’s championship run added 16 valuable points to the team total and set the tone early for the Lady Eagles.

The middle and upper weights continued to pile up points for Colby. Heidi Gray placed third at 125 pounds after rebounding from early losses with a string of pinfall victories in the consolation rounds. Makenzi Rhymer captured another individual title for Colby at 170 pounds, pinning all three of her opponents and scoring 20 team points in the process.

Alana Fabrizius added to the championship count with a first-place finish at 190 pounds, recording falls in both of her matches. Lily McKinney rounded out the lineup at 235 pounds moving up from her 170 pound division, placing second and contributing 10 points.

By the end of the day, Colby’s balance across all weight classes proved decisive. With multiple champions, several finalists, and contributions throughout the lineup, the Lady Eagles left Ulysses as clear GWAC champions, carrying momentum forward as the postseason approaches and reaffirming their place among the top programs in the region.

Next, the Lady Eagles will venture to Augusta this Friday for their West superregional as the team plans to qualify a large group to state this year.
